Terms and Conditions: Decorating Services

1. Scope of Work

​The Decorator agrees to perform the services outlined in the provided quote. Any additional work requested outside this scope will be subject to additional charges.

2. Payment Terms

  • Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required to secure the booking.
  • Final Balance: The remaining 80% is strictly payable on the day of completion.
  • Late Payments: Payments not received within 24 hours of completion may incur late fees.

3. Completion and "Snagging"

  • No Withholding: The Client agrees that minor snags or cosmetic touch-ups are not valid reasons to withhold the final 80% payment.
  • Rectification: Snags must be documented on the day of completion. The Decorator will return to rectify these only after the final balance has been settled in full.

4. Surface Conditions and Substrates

  • Condition of Woodwork: The Decorator cannot be held responsible for the final appearance or durability of finishes applied to woodwork that is in a poor state of repair. This includes, but is not limited to, wood affected by rot, heavy graining, warping, deep physical damage, or excessive previous paint build-up.
  • Third-Party Preparation: No responsibility is accepted for finishes applied to surfaces (walls, ceilings, or woodwork) previously prepared, primed, or repaired by the Client or a third party.
  • Pre-existing Defects: The Decorator is not liable for "blown" plaster, rising damp, or the failure of underlying coatings that were not applied as part of this contract.

5. Client Obligations

  • ​The Client must ensure the work area is clear of furniture and valuables.
  • ​Access to water, electricity, and facilities must be provided.
  • ​The Client must maintain a room temperature of at least 10°C for proper material curing.

6. Cancellations

​Cancellations made less than 7 days before the start date will result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
